FREMONT, Neb. – Longtime Midland University Volleyball assistant coach Nicole Venditte has accepted an assistant coaching position at Shippensburg University. The university, located in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, is a member of the NCAA Division II and competes in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. Venditte will be joining the Raiders staff under head coach Leanne Piscotty.
Venditte has been a part of the Lady Warriors’ staff since her graduation from Midland University in 2011. During her time here she has not only assisted head coach Paul Giesselmann with the varsity team but was also the head coach for the Warriors junior varsity team and led the off-season strength and conditioning program up until 2018.
Since 2011, Midland has become one of the NAIA’s elite volleyball programs. During that time the Warriors have gone 214-65 overall, including an impressive 98-30 mark in the Great Plains Athletic Conference and have reached at least the semifinals of the GPAC Postseason Tournament each season, winning the title twice.
The Lady Warriors currently have a streak of six straight appearances at the NAIA National Championship final site. Five of the six years Midland has advanced out of pool play and have reached the National Semifinals twice, including this past season.
“I am really happy for Nicole to have this opportunity to further challenge herself in her coaching career,” commented Midland head coach Paul Giesselmann. “Nicole has been a huge part of this program’s success since I started at Midland. She began as a student assistant then I hired her as a GA. She then became a full time assistant in 2013.”
Twice in her career Venditte was named AVCA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year (2016 and 2013) and in 2016 was named to the AVCA’s Thirty Under 30 list. The award is given annually to the top up-and-coming volleyball coaches.
“I know that she’s had a really positive impact on all of our volleyball players over the years and I know she will have the same impact at Shippensburg,” Coach Giesselmann added.
