Omaha Women Lose to North Dakota on the Road

The Omaha women’s basketball team dropped a 68-57 decision to North Dakota at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.

With the loss, the Mavericks are now 6-10 on the season and 1-3 in Summit League play, while the Fighting Hawks improved to 8-9 (3-1).

Elena Pilakouta led the Mavericks with a team-high 13 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots.  Claire Killian added 10 points, five rebounds and four steals.  Sophie Johnston scored nine points, while Josie Filerchipped in five points, six boards and two steals.

Julia Fleecs scored a game-high 14 points on 6-of-15 shooting from the floor, adding five rebounds, two assists and two steals.  Alaina Jarnot went for 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including three 3-pointers.  Jarnot added four rebounds and five assists.  Melissa Leet chipped in nine points, six boards and four blocked shots.

The Mavericks return to action next Wednesday, Jan. 16, against Western Illinois.  Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Macomb, Ill.
