HASTINGS, Neb. – For the second consecutive year and fifth time in six years, Midland University has won the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship. The Warriors came away with the highest marks from the judges, a score of 69.92, edging second-place Northwestern College (67.09) by nearly three points.
“As a program we are so happy to see another GPAC title come to Midland. Our five titles in six years says a lot about our winning tradition here,” head coach Kevin Ellstrand stated after the event. “As for this year’s team. There is so much they have had to overcome mentally and physically. I am extremely pleased with the newcomers stepping up and buying into this program. We have a great group of veteran leaders on this team as well. They continually do whatever is necessary for the program to grow and succeed and I am beyond proud to coach such a great group of leaders.”
Midland will look to build upon their success this week as they travel back to Hastings for a dual. The Broncos and Warriors will square off on Tuesday, February 19th. It will be each team’s final tune-up before the Warriors host the NAIA Northwest Qualifier on Friday, February 22 in Fremont.
