Local Sports: Yesterday’s Scores and What’s Coming Up This Week

Yesterday:

The Fremont High track and field teams competes in the Lincoln Northeast Relays, at Nebraska Wesleyan University, yesterday.

A big highlight was the 1600m medley relay (200,200,400,800).  The team of Micah Moore, Lucas Arps, Wes Ferguson, and Jose Gonzalez shattered a 27 year old school record when they combined for a 3:33.46.  The previous record set in ’92 was 3:38.3 by Preitauer, Bock, Gossett, and Lamme.

Ross McMahon won the high jump at 6-2.

In the girls’ pole vault, Juanita Mendoza was first at 10-0.

The Fremont Boys won the 4×1600 relay in 18:55.90.

The Tiger girls won the 4×800 relay in 10:10.20.

Fremont’s girls won the 800 sprint medley in 1:54.72.

Yesterday’s Bergan/Kearney baseball game in Springfield, was cancelled, and will not be rescheduled.

The Blair High girls tennis team defeated Omaha Gross Catholic, 7-2, yesterday.

The Blair High girls and boys soccer teams both earned wins yesterday.  The girls won 2-0, and the boys also won, 2-0.

Tyler Berger (157), Isaiah White (165) and Mikey Labriola (174) won their second round matches to advance to today’s quarterfinals. As a team, NU stayed in a tie for eighth place (16 pts.) after the second session of the 2019 NCAA Wrestling Championships.

Coming up this weekend:

The Fremont High girls and boys soccer teams will host Columbus, at Heedum Field, this afternoon.  The girls play at 3:30 and the boys play at 5:30.

Today’s Bergan/Omaha North baseball game at Schilke Field has been cancelled.

The Blair High baseball team plays in the Lincoln Pius X Tournament, today.  Blair will play a 3:30, this afternoon, at Densmore Field.

The Midland women and men’s tennis teams will host Simpson College, at 3:30, this afternoon.

The Warrior baseball team will play at Northwestern College, in Orange City, Iowa, at 4:00, today, in a GPAC doubleheader.
