Local Sports Coming Up This Weekend: April 26-28

The Nebraska baseball team (22-14, 11-4 Big Ten) returns home to continue Big Ten play when the Huskers host Illinois (26-13, 6-6 Big Ten) for a three-game series at Hawks Field this weekend. NU is ranked 37th in the latest RPI, while Illinois comes in at the No. 23 spot. The Huskers and Fighting Illini square off Friday at 7:32 p.m.

Creighton will clash with its main BIG EAST rival in a pivotal series this weekend. The team that takes the series will control its own destiny as Xavier enters Friday’s contest 7-1 in BIG EAST play, while the Bluejays are 5-1.

The Huskers Track & Field team will be in action at the Texas Tech Shootout on Friday. The meet will likely decide the Track & Field News Men’s Dual Meet Champion and will play a role in the final Track & Field News Women’s Dual Meet Rankings. Competition in Lubbock, Texas begins with field events at 11 a.m. and action on the track at 4:30 p.m.
