FSB Seniors Advance to Winners Bracket at State Playoffs

The First State Bank American Legion Seniors baseball team advanced to the winner’s bracket final of the American Division Playoffs at Jurgensen Park last night, with a 3-2 eight inning win against Five Points Bank of Hastings.

Trailing 2-1 in the seventh, First State got a sacrifice fly off the bat of Dawson Glause to score pinch runner Connor Richmond to tie the score at 2.  In the bottom of the eighth, Austin Callahan hit a deep fly ball to center field that Hastings’ Austin Valentine lost in the lights, putting Callahan on second base.

Pitcher Dillon Dix came to the plate and laid down a bunt that pitcher Josh Brooks threw away, allowing Callahan to score the winning run from second base.  Dix talked about the play:

The FSB Seniors will play Lincoln North Star in the winner’s bracket final tonight at 7:00PM at Creighton Prep’s Jurgensen Park.  The game will be broadcast on Big Dog 98.9 FM and 1340 AM.
