LINCOLN – The FHS Tiger Swim team posted good times, but didn’t take the win over Lincoln East in their meet Tuesday night. The Tigers are coming out of some tough training days and swimming through pain and stiffness in their January meets, according to swim coach Ali Granger. “Although the times may not show it, kids were out there racing and pushing through the pain which means February is going to be that much sweeter,” she said.

Subway Swimmer of the Meet went to Karsen Jesse. Karsen broke a minute in the 100 free and really pushed during her 100 free time. She also swam a strong breaststroke after competing hard in 3 events prior.
Ellie Schieman also had a great meet swimming a strong 200 free for the tigers and looking promising in her 100 backstroke.
Senior Kylie Schurz had a great break through meet tonight as well cutting off 5 seconds in the 100 free and aiding the tigers in all 3 relays. Kylies free has really come a long way this year and we are looking to her for some distance freestyle the rest of the year.
Another strong swim came from Addie Schiemann and Elizabeth Morrison in the 500 free. Elizabeth cut 13 seconds from her previous best time and Addie broke the 7 minute mark which was a huge swim for her. Both these girls are looking strong and we can’t wait to see what happens when we rest them later this season.
Lauren Gifford had a very impressive swim in her 100 fly. Although not one of her main events she cut 4 seconds off her lifetime best to swim a 1:05 and hit a state secondary cut.
Kinley Shallberg looked very strong tonight in her free events. After coming back from shoulder surgery her stroke is looking so strong and to see her break 6 minutes in the 500 tonight was a huge positive.
Emma Walz had a win for the tigers in the 200 IM while also racing strong in the 100 free and hitting a season best time.

AJ Jacobus earned Subway Swimmer of the Meet honors winning the boys 100 free and having a solid IM swim. AJ has been working hard and its exciting to see his hard work pay off.
Mack Prince really showed his strength today. He swam a great race in the 50 free going 24.5 and then had a sub 1:20 100 breaststroke a race he never does.
Conner Schurz had another break out meet for him. He did the 500 for the first time and showed so much promise in that event. Conner is looking to be a great distance swimmer for the tigers.
Logan Kirk swam the 100 breaststroke for the first time and showed lots of promise. He also dropped almost 10 seconds in his 200 free. Logan has been getting stronger in the water daily and we are excited to see where he finishes.
