Ft. Calhoun Nuclear Plant Accelerated Decommissioning Contract Approved

BLAIR – Omaha Public Power District has entered into a contract with Energy Solutions to perform an accelerated decommissioning of the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant.  OPPD’s board of directors say the decommissioning should have the station dismantled by the mid 2020’s.  The move, according to OPPD officials, will save around $200 million dollars.  The Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant was taken offline and defueled in 2016.
