Fremont Native & U.S. Senator Ben Sasse Announces Re-election Bid

BLAIR – U.S. Senator Ben Sasse,  a Fremont native, announced his bid for re-election Monday night at the Millard Airport.  On hand for support – Governor Pete Ricketts, former governors Kay Orr and Dave Heineman, Congressmen Don Bacon and Jeff Fortenberry,   Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert and several other Republican backers.  Also at that event, a handful of protesters lining the entrance to the hangar where the event was held.  Senator Sasse told the crowd that Americans need more civics lessons, especially in addressing socialism that some political figures are advocating.    Matt Innis,  former chairman of the Lancaster County Republican Party,  announced his candidacy for Sasse’s seat last week and chided Sasse for his past statements criticizing the president.
