Flooding is Limiting Drivers in Washington County

BLAIR – Flooded roadways, creeks and rivers running out of their banks is forcing area motorists to find detours to their destinations.  Highway 91 west of Blair was closed at Nickerson due to flooding on the Elkhorn.  Local traffic was permitted to that point.  Little Bell and Bell Creeks formed large lakes along the way.  More flooding is expected tonight and into tomorrow.  Washington County Sheriff Mike Robinson cautions drivers to NOT cross flooded roadways.  You risk your life, the lives of your passengers and also the lives of potential rescuers.  Several other areas of flooding in the county as well – HIghway 75 near Herman, County Road 34 east of Fort Calhoun,  Highway 30 near Arlington, as well as low lying areas close to the Missouri River.    Additionally, Harrison and Monona Counties in Iowa are experiencing flooding, parts of Missouri Valley are evacuating – near the park and south of the Rail road tracks.  More rain and thaw is expected tomorrow.
