Bracing for More Flooding
The Blair floodgates were closed on Wednesday as the Missouri River began to exceed its banks.

BLAIR – Another round of flooding in store for those of us along the Missouri River, from Sioux City to Rulo according to the National Weather Service out of Valley.  The river at Blair has crossed over from minor into moderate flood stage and is now at 28 point 3 feet, expected to peak tomorrow at just under 29 feet.  The Blair floodgates are now in place to protect the city’s waterworks.  Roadways east of Fort Calhoun have water over the pavement in some areas and are closed off.

On I-29 southbound, the off ramps at Crescent to 6-80 have been closed, the Iowa Department of Transportation is expected to close part of i-29 near Honey Creek due to flooding later today.

With Water levels rising, the U.S. Coast Guard is issuing a no-wake advisory, and is requesting that all vessels on the Missouri River use the slowest speed possible until otherwise advised.
