Baseball Bytes: Tuesday, June 13th


The First State Bank American Legion Seniors baseball team stayed unbeaten with an 11-3, six inning victory, over Carpet Land (Lincoln East), last night at Novak Field, in Fremont.  Dillon Dix earned the win, on the mound, pitching all six innings, giving up four hits, two earned runs, striking out two, while walking six.  Brennan Callahan went 1-for-4 with three rbi’s.  First State is 10-0 on the season, while Carpet Land is 5-3-1.  First State will host Waverly in a doubleheader, Monday night at 5:30.

In junior legion action, last night, Carpet Land defeated First State Bank, 16-2.  The First State juniors host Gretna, Tuesday night at 5:00.

The First State Bank Reserve legion team will host Elkhorn South, at Novak Field, tonight at 6:30pm.

The Blair junior and senior legion baseball teams played at Mount Michael, last night.  While the juniors picked up a win, the Blair seniors lost, 5-2.  Both teams are in action tomorrow, at Plattsmouth, at 5:30 and 8pm.


In Dodge County Baseball League action tonight, West Point plays at Wahoo, Dodge is at North Bend, Leigh/Schuyler is at Blair and Scribner is at Yutan.  All games start at 7:30pm.

Fremont Moo

In a scoring extravaganza last night at Moller Field, in the Expedition League, the Casper Horseheads defeated the Fremont Moo, 21-15.  Moo catcher Omar Veloz went 3-for-6 with four rbi’s in the loss.  Fremont is 5-9 on the season, while Casper is 8-7.  The two teams will play a doubleheader today at Moller Field, at 5pm.

Sacramento- 5, Omaha-4; @ SAC- 9:05 tonight

Lincoln Saltdogs

Cody Regis walked twice and reached three total times, but the ‘Dogs gave up eight runs over the first two innings in a 9-1 loss to the Sioux City Explorers at MercyOne Field on Wednesday night.

The ‘Dogs are back down to two games over .500 with the series finale and final game in Sioux City coming up Thursday night. First pitch time is set for 7:12 p.m.
