Ambulance Catches Fire on Highway 36 Friday Evening

BLAIR – If you tried to drive on Highway 36 Friday evening, you probably were detoured.  The roadway was shut down in both directions between 156th and Highway 133 after a private ambulance caught fire in the early evening.  That ambulance was transporting a patient to the hospital.  The patient was safely removed by Bennington Rescue and Fire and taken to a hospital. The cause of that fire is under investigation and did total the private ambulance. The Nebraska Department of Transportation did apply extra salt and sand due to reported icy conditions on that roadway.
